Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibition

What feels like a lifetime ago, way back at the beginning of summer, I took a trip to the Barbican Art Gallery. I went to see a little exhibition of Jean Paul Gaultier’s work. There were many sections to the exhibition, including a little area devoted to the stage costumes he had worked on for artists such as Kylie and Madonna! So cool, that’s exactly what I want to be doing in the future. I thought I’d show you a couple of outfits that I really liked. They aren’t from the performance costume area, but I think they were pretty fab anyway. The face that you see in the first collage of images was a projection shinning onto most of the downstairs mannequins. When I first went into the exhibition it was the creepiest thing since they manage to look directly at you and then start wittering away in French. Creepy! Then there was Jean Paul Gaultier with his face projected onto a mannequin and he spoke about the collection of work.

I kept my look very simple with a black floral crop top and a long black gypsy skirt. If you look really closely I’ve got a colourful scrunchie wrapped around the bun in my hair. The golden necklace has alternating silver and black glittering triangles. The black ties the necklace in with the rest of the image, and who doesn’t love a little sparkle?! I wore orange beaded sandals to keep with the warmer tones of the top. But since the base of the sandals is tan, they aren’t too noticeable.
