One of the best things about volunteering at a local primary school during the last term, is all the fab fun end of year activities. I’m talking Sports Day (watch out for that look!), school trips to the zoo (like here!) and even visits to environmental learning charities…Wait, what? Ok. So it wasn’t as glamorous as the whole school trip to the zoo that I managed to bag myself a place on last year. But it was actually pretty interesting and y’know what? I really did learn a few new facts. Things like: when you see a field full of lovely grain and food for the harvest, it might not actually be for that purpose at all. Instead the whole field is used to grow food for the animals in the field next door. I think it’s safe to say I will not be turning my delicate hands to farming any time soon…
Luckily, it was a beautifully sunny day for this trip, whereas the younger half of the school went the next day when the heavens really did open! On this sunnier day we even managed to find a Pick Your Own Fruits field. I was secretly uber excited about this because I’ve always wanted to pick my own strawberries. However, it kinda takes the fun out of it when you spend the whole time dragging kids around an ominous field trying to find the darn strawbs!
This was my little learner look for the day. Check out that strawberry necklace, how well co-ordinated is that with the days events! I bought these airy giraffe print shorts for my holiday, initially. But I kinda forgot to pack them… So lucky I wore them here!
